Dino Piarulli was a founding member of “unfinished Business” and was there to establish the foundation of the band through the rigorous time of piecing together the whole thing when there wasn’t much there for anyone to grab hold of. Yet he stuck with it because he was tenacious, and he believed. 

The name “unfinished Business” came from Dino, when we were discussing past musical ventures we had been in together that for one reason or another never got off the ground. 

Dino said he wanted to see this one through because we had, well, unfinished business.

 

Other than being a great father and husband, Dino was all about being a chef, and being a musician. 

And he was damn good at both.

Whether he was preparing a meal for his family, or catering a party for 100 people, the same care and love went on to every plate. 

He had an encyclopedic knowledge of rock music, and a wealth of knowledge about great drummers, of which he was one.

 

Dino was a hard working guy - tireless in the pursuit of taking care of his family, regardless of what he had to do to accomplish that. Yet, as hard as he worked for everything, he would without hesitation give you the very shirt off his back if you were his friend, because if there was one thing Dino knew how to do, it was how to be your friend. 

And if Dino was your friend, you knew it well.

 

And no, he wasn’t a “Yes” friend that would tell you what you wanted to hear. He was the friend that if you asked him what he thought… well, he would tell you… and oft times you didn’t have to ask. But that’s what you love about a guy like that. 

That’s what you want in a friend. 

That’s what you need in a true friend.

And that’s what you got from Dino.

 

The illness that befell Dino is tragic, heartbreaking and devastating to his family and to the many, many friends that loved him so dearly in life, and will continue to do so in his passing. 

 

Someday, cancer will be a disease that was once incurable, but that day was not in time for Dino.

 

A good man, and a good friend.

We will remember you, and we will carry you in our hearts, always.
